Maskandi Musician Khuzani Indlamlenze Mpungose is set to fly the Maskandi flag high as he will be performing at the 2rd annual Essence Festival Durban, which kicked off with four business conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The festival promotes parting with a purpose with mixture of music, art and craft, book and business and lifestyle inspired showcases and the dialogues. It follows a similar format of the annual New Orleans event.

The Essence All-Star Music Concert which takes place on Saturday features a local and international line-up made up of headline acts such as three-time Grammy Award-winning singer Jill Scott, local rapper Nasty C, Mi Casa, Gqom Queen, Babes Wodumo, and of cause maskandi musician, Khuzani and many others.

In 2016 Mpungose also performed at the inaugural of the festival and in an interview he had with SABC Morning Live said “I feel honoured that I was selected to be part of this event, this to me shows that Im not just an ordinary Maskandi musician,” said Mpungose in 2016.

For his Saturday performance, he pleaded with Maskandi music fans to attend the event and come out in big numbers.

Mayor of eThekwini Zandile Gumede said the essence of putting together such an event serves to enhance, empower, build communities and instil positive thinking which will spearhead Africa’s growth.
